Sometimes crooning soft and sweet, sometimes belting out strong, SweetDuration couples the powerful vocals of their female lead singer with catchy, dynamic, and memorable alternative pop/rock music.

SweetDuration has earned a substantial following in northern California through their live shows, and online through their official website and music sites such as mp3.com and Garageband.com. As a result of several favorable reviews from the title track of SweetDuration's EP, their song "No More" was selected as Track of the Day on April 23rd, 2004 in the Pop/Rock genre. Their song "Let's Go Wild" hit #5 out of 15,000 songs in the Pop/Rock genre, receiving strong positive reviews from countries all over the world. In June 2003, SweetDuration beat out other Bay Area bands to win the Battle of the Bands sponsored by Mix 106.5 KEZR, one of the most popular commercial AAA radio stations in the Silicon Valley, and their song "Make Up Your Mind" received a significant number of votes in their New Music Showdown on the air. As a result of such attention, SweetDuration has shared bills with such up-and-coming major acts as Stabbing Westward (now called "The Dreaming"), Jason Mraz, Dana Glover, Chantal Kreviazuk, and Josh Kelley. They appeared live on 107.7 The Bone (KSAN)'s popular morning show before their Voodoo Lounge performance in San Francisco in 2002, and the band was invited to headline Mix 106.5's Listener Appreciation Day at theme park Raging Waters. Their self-titled first CD also gained popularity on many college stations across the country. In April 2004, they appeared as musical guests on UPN$s comedy show "SUTN," which boasts over 100,000 Northern California viewers. SweetDuration has also appeared on several Bay Area cable TV shows such as Bay Area Live and charity telethons, such as the EHC Hunger Drive and the 13th Annual Soundwaves Christmas Show to raise money for needy families.

SweetDuration is the songwriting team of lead vocalist Jennifer McBride and rhythm guitarist Mike McCullough, and the duo performs with a handful of talented musicians who back them up in live gigs and in the studio. If you were to ask founding members Jennifer and Mike how the band came to be, they would probably laugh and tell you an interesting tale of karaoke over drinks one night at a local pub back in 1999. What started out as carefree fun at that pub inspired them to create music of their own. Soon after, they began to get together frequently at Mike$s house to write songs. With a handful of songs completed, they started out performing at open mic nights, or while the live band of the night took a break mid-show at a Bay Area pub. Getting great responses from the crowds, they realized they just might have something special, and started to get more serious about their efforts.

SweetDuration is excited about the release of their new EP "No More" on April 25, 2004. They worked with talented producer Adam Rossi and are thrilled at the sound he helped them achieve. The band is hard at work planning and promoting many shows across the state of California to promote this new release.

The Members of Sweet Duration

Jennifer McBride :

Sweet Duration’s lead vocalist, Jennifer McBride, was raised in a fine arts household. Growing up, Jennifer had an irrepressible appetite for the arts, trying her hand at many things such as clarinet, acting, dance, percussion, reading all types of literature, and writing poetry and short stories.   She sang in choirs in both junior high and high school, such as the Canta Nova choir, and loved performing in musical theater because it combined so many of her arts into one project. After she graduated from high school in 1996 was when she started focusing more on her singing.   To answer the most frequently asked question of her, Jennifer has never had any formal vocal training, other than a few helpful techniques picked up here and there in choir.   She considers herself more of a self-taught singer who, for many years, sat alone in her room, her car, or a big open field listening to the singers and songwriters who have influenced her the most, such as Mariah Carey, Jewel, Sarah McLachlan, Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Jennifer Knapp, Beth Hart, Dave Matthews, Edwin McCain, and many more.   Once she felt singing and songwriting was what she really wanted to do, she did what any aspiring rock star would do—she went to a karaoke bar!   One night she mustered up the courage to get on stage at a tiny bar called McNeil’s in Santa Clara, and tried her hand at Jewel’s “Who Will Save Your Soul”.   The karaoke DJ, none other than Mo Waters, was impressed and introduced himself.   Every week for a year after than night, Jennifer would sing karaoke at that bar, to get over her fear of singing solo for an audience and to improve on her stage presence, and with Mo’s help, to learn how to operate sound equipment.   Back then, Mo was the lead singer of a local rock band called Fringe, and invited Jennifer to come out to shows and sing back-up vocals.   She even appeared on their 1999 independent release “Believe”.   And the rest is history…Jennifer and an old friend of hers who played guitar, Mike McCullough, had written a few songs together and decided to call themselves SweetDuration.   The duo began performing with Fringe, opening up for them or playing a few tunes during the band’s breaks.   When the group disbanded, Mo permanently joined SweetDuration, and they have worked hard each and every day since to get where they are now, and where they plan to go!   Jennifer thanks her friends and family for their continuous support and for coming to so many shows to cheer for her, and thanks SweetDuration’s fans for always believing in them.
